Where Uttar Pradesh publishes FIRs
Uttar Pradesh Police provide citizen services through the CCTNS portal at cctnsup.gov.in and through the UPCOP app on Android and iOS. The official UP Police website links its View FIR service to the citizen portal's login page, which means you need an account before you can look up a record.
FIRSetu does not currently search Uttar Pradesh records. Until it does, the state's own portal is the place to go, and this guide describes what to expect there rather than walking you through screens we have not verified ourselves.
What you will need
Portals built on CCTNS ask for the same things, and UP's is no exception. Have these ready before you start.
- A registered account on the citizen portal or the UPCOP app. Registration uses your mobile number and a one-time password.
- The district and the police station where the FIR was registered.
- Either the FIR number and year, or the date range in which it was registered.
Looking up a record
Once signed in, look for View FIR among the citizen services. Choose the district and police station, then enter the FIR number and year or the date range. Matching records are listed, and a published FIR can be opened as a PDF.
Menu labels and screen layouts change from time to time and differ slightly between the website and the app. If a step here does not match what you see, follow the portal's own labels; the information it asks for is what matters, and it does not change.
What is and is not published
Under the Supreme Court's directions in Youth Bar Association of India v. Union of India (2016), FIRs are to be uploaded within twenty-four hours of registration, extendable to forty-eight and at most seventy-two hours where connectivity is a genuine problem. Sensitive categories, including sexual offences, offences under the POCSO Act, and matters relating to insurgency and terrorism, are excluded from publication.
A record you cannot find online may therefore still exist. It may be in an excluded category, or it may not have been uploaded yet.
